Hey everyone!  As many of you know, I REALLY love cosplay.  Right now I'm kind of in a lull because there won't be another convention in my area for a while and I can't start working on my next cosplay until my dress patter arrives.  I looked on the web for a 30 day cosplay challenge and found this: heckyeahtumblrchallenges.tumbl… ... but I didn't want a challenge of questions.  That doesn't take 30 days, that takes 15 minutes so I decided to make my own!

 

In this challenge you will find a combination of picture challenges and post challenges.  Some days will require you to break out your camera, some days will even require you to put on your cosplays.  Other days, you can just sit back, relax and write a little status.

 

For those of you who are new at cosplaying or who don't have many cosplays yet.  Don't worry!  Get creative with the challenges and answer in your own way even if it seems outside the criteria.  After all, this is cosplay.  There are no rules

If you plan on taking part in this, please let me know!  I wanna check out all you pic and whatnot.  Obviously the setup of this challenge is better for facebook, but I thought I'd share it here anyway.

So without further ado, here are my cosplay challenges!  Good luck and have fun!!!

 

1. Share a picture of your first cosplay.  Why did you start cosplaying?  Why was this character your first cosplay?

2. Share a picture of your most recent cosplay.  Why did you cosplay this character?

3. Post: Do you have a cosplay idol?  Are there cosplayers who have inspired you/taught you?

4. Show us a picture of all your wigs! If you don't have any wigs, show some pictures of how you styled your hair for your cosplays.

5. Post: What is one thing/tool/material no cosplayer should ever be without? A.k.a, a cosplay essential.

6. How/Where do you store your cosplays? Picture and explanation!

7. Post: Do you make your own cosplays?  If so, do you have any cosplay making habits (listening to music, putting on a movie, etc.)?  If you don't make your own cosplays, who do you trust to make your cosplays?  How do you determine who to buy from?

8. Now the hard part begins: Pick one of your cosplays.  Take a picture of him/her getting ready for a date.

9.  Post: Are you a part of a cosplay group?  Why or why not?

10. Pick another cosplay (or stay with the same one).  Take a snap shot of his/her morning routine.

11. Post: What is one thing you will NEVER do when it comes to cosplay? (crossplay, expose a certain part of your body, etc.)

12. Let's see what one of your characters does on a night in ...

13. Post: What was your most expensive cosplay?

14. How about one of your characters on a night out?  PARTY!!!

15. Post: Share one of your favorite cosplay stories. If you have any pictures to go with it, even better.

16. Take a picture wearing mis-matching wig and cosplay. You could make it look like one of your characters is trying to cosplay as another

17. Post: Share one of your worst cosplay stories.

18. Find one thing in your house that one of your characters wouldn't know/understand.  Take a picture of him/her using/discovering said object.

19. Post: Out of all the characters you've cosplayed, which one do you identify with the most?

20. Take a picture of yourself cosplaying with your furry friend.  If you don't have a pet, use your favorite plushie

21. Post: What is your dream cosplay?

22. Makeup makes a big difference in cosplay!  Take a picture of yourself with your cosplay makeup on only one half of your face.

23. Post: What is the best aspect of cosplaying?

24. DIFFICULT CHALLENGE!!  Wear one of your wigs out in public (restaurant, park, etc.)  Pics or it didn't happen!

25. Post: What is the worst aspect of cosplay?

26. Post a picture of your next cosplay, or a cosplay you would like to do in the future.

27. Post: I don't like to think about this question, but why/when do you think you'll stop cosplaying?

28. You've had a break for a while.  Does one of your characters have a favorite food?  Take a picture of him/her eating said food.  Alternatively, take a picture of your character eating a food he/she dislikes.

29. One of the best aspects of cosplay is all the friends you make! Post a picture of your cosplay friends!  If you have a photo editing program, try to shove them all in one picture!

30. VIDEO COSPLAY CHALLENGE!!!  Make a short/long/whatever you want video of one of your characters doing anything.  Get creative!  It could be a blog, it could be a skit, whatever you want!  And now you're free!!  Congrats on finishing Megan's Cosplay Challenge!

WATCH IT!!!!  This is my first attempt at a vlog (or as I cleverly renamed it, a video ethnography!)

I just wanted to post something to let everyone know I'M NOT DEAD YET!  I have been pretty inactive though.  And, well, when you're a college student with two majors and a minor, cosplay better not be your number one priority.  Bad things will happen, I'll tell you that.

But I CAN tell you that I have a rough Legolas cosplay put together.  I wore him around my campus on Halloween :3  He turned out puuuuurdyyyyy~ all I have to do is put together the shiny shirt, as well as the belt and some fancy embellishments.  I would post a picture, but I really don't have anything decent to show yet.  My bro and I are going to try to put a photoshoot together sometime soon.  We also just so happen to be the busiest people in the world.  So yea, we'll see about that.

Anyway, I also wanted to give you guys a general update: as stated earlier, I have priorities higher than cosplay.  I'm rushing to the end of my junior year and its time to get extra serious.  Also, I have to be honest; I'm starting to get tired of the con scene.  THERE, I SAID IT!  The mid-west con scene just doesn't do for me what it used to.  Maybe its changed, maybe I've changed, maybe both.  Not sure.  To all my cosplay friends, this doesn't mean I don't like /you/, just means I'm not getting the fun out of conventions like I used to.  And being strapped for cash doesn't help.  Cons and coslays are expensive hobbies.  So what I'm trying to say is that I'm probably going to start to fade away from the scene.  I guess this phase of my life is just passing.  I'm not really sad, I'm just looking forward to what's next.  I hope I can always keep this as a side hobby, but I'm probably going to be taking a break.  For a while.
